Gooey Apple Sorghum Cake

This recipe is from a 16 page, free recipe book WalMart put out before Christmas a few years ago. We love this recipe… it’s one of my 3 year old’s most often requested desserts! It calls for a caramel sauce as the topping, but I think the result is more like a bar dessert than a cake, and it is delicious without the sauce… very moist and delicious warm or cooled.

This recipe will make your Cole slaw the star of the meal! The slaw dressing is tangy with a sweet and sour flavor. the flavor is enhanced from your own homemade Spiced Apple Mint Vinegar. Which you can make with one of our herb vinegar spice packets! Check out the new products! The dressing call for Mayonnaise, you could substitute sour cream or yogurt, It will change the taste of your finished dish. This dish goes great paired with shredded pork. You can add it ti the pork in the sandwich. Now there’s a party in your mouth!

Sorghum Barbeque Sauce

We found this recipe on another sorghum grower’s website,, and loved it! Very easy and very tasty! I have increased the sorghum and cut out the white sugar completely, and it turned out fine… we like the extra sorghum taste :)

Sorghum Caramel Corn

The ultimate combination of salty, sweet and crunchy. This recipe makes quite a bit, but is so easy!! My mom grew up making caramel corn for her family regularly, and we’ve been playing with our favorite family recipes, using sorghum in place of things like corn syrup, maple syrup, honey, and some of the white or brown sugar, with delicious results! Warning: this caramel corn is seriously addicting!

Spelt Honey Bread

My mom gave me a cookbook for Christmas that had this recipe in it, but it called for whole wheat flour. I just substituted spelt because it’s what we have, and it was a very simple, no fuss bread recipe. Great for breakfast or snacking, even for dessert with jam, fruit butter, or honey.
