The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

The missing glove...

This post expired on January 04, 2023.

Good evening market shoppers! A brief note of thanks to our wonderful volunteers tonight who packed your orders with a smile: Charlene, Mark and Pam (along with Meyer which I include because he is so charming!) We couldn’t do it without you guys!

There was a black glove with leather accents found at the check-in table tonight. It is at the front desk of the Y in case you have dropped it at the market.

Many thanks also to Craig Shirk from the Urbana Daily Citizen who is writing a feature story on the virtual market for their sister paper, Acres, which is circulated to at least 5 counties to homes with five acres or more. It primarily has a focus on rural living and agriculturally related stories. We’ll fit right in the pages and hopefully will show up in the February copy. We’ll share the news when it does! Have a great Friday and thanks again for your support!
