The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Super specials for a super week!

This post expired on January 28, 2023.

Good evening and hope your Sunday was super de duper! I know we are all prepping our pantries for the big game next weekend so we thought we might help entice you with some big-game specials!

First up, Oakview Farm Fresh Meats have sage or country-style sausage links for $3/pkg and DB Yummers Spicy BBQ Sauce for $4! Combine those with the specials from Swisher Hill Herbs who have all of their dips and chili mixes on sale for $.25 off each! Fix their Touchdown chili with Oakview’s Ground Beef and serve as nachos. Or, dial up some White Bean Chicken Chili with one of Cosmic Charlie’s awesome breads.

Charlene recommends making their spinach dip with 2 cups of the Star Dancer Creamery plain or Greek yogurt! if you haven’t tried their yogurt you simply must! Delicious!

Cosmic Charlie’s specials are extra yummy too! Pam’s giving away the store with her Cosmic Sheriff for a deal of $3. When you wake up thinking it was all a dream, you’re going to need some Magnolia Hippie Breakfast Cookies to get your day started off on the right foot!

Don’t forget that starting this Thursday, we are actually going to open the market right after market pickup on Thursday instead of Sunday. Be looking for the sales listing at 8 o’clock Thursday evening instead of Sunday night! This will allow a few more days to shop. Just remember if you shop earlier, please remember to pick up your orders on Thursday as usual. We’ll still try to send you an email reminder.

If you haven’t “Liked” us on Facebook, please join us for updates and info on our page of Champaign Locally Grown. Our vendors are full of great ideas and ways to improve your relationship with your food! Have a great evening and we’ll see you Thursday!
