The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Can you help out a researcher?

Good Friday afternoon friends! A couple of short announcements for you. First, Jessica Chadwell, a friend of the local foods discussion, is looking for help in taking a short survey. As your opinion is always important, please take a few minutes (it took me like 3) to answer a few questions about your shopping habits. The survey can be found at surveymonkey.com/s/osulocalfood. If you have any problems with the link, let me know. It would be wonderful if as many as possible would complete it.

Secondly, I have heard you loud and clear that you would like a link to shop the market included in my webblasts to you. I will try to remember to do that and will try to do it correctly. I am no master of the webworld yet Eric’s software does make this very easy. Thanks to Carol and others for requesting the link so you can shop instead of search. I’ll try!

Don’t forget the tab on the market choices that includes weekly specials. There is always a deal lurking there so check it out!

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the melting snow! I saw three robins again today so I’m thinking Spring must be just around the corner. Good luck making up for the lost sleep when we turn our clocks back too. Sorry to see that happen but I will surely love the change in daylight visibility!

Have a wonderful weekend!
