The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Market update!

This post expired on June 24, 2023.

Good evening customers! Just a quick but important announcement for everyone. Due to the Y being closed for the July 4th holiday, the market WILL NOT be open NEXT WEEK. While this has no bearing on our market this week, I am letting you know in order to shop for those much needed sauces, grilling meats, extra yogurt and so forth that you might need for those holiday meals. I will close the market tomorrow night at 8 pm and we will see everyone this Thursday as usual. However I will reopen it on Thursday July 4th to allow orders once again. If you find yourself needing an item from one of our vendors in the mean time, feel free to contact them directly or see if they vend at the Mechanicsburg market on Tuesdays, the North Lewisburg market on Thursdays, the St. Paris market on Fridays or the Urbana market on Saturdays. Many vend at the other markets and one of our goals is to help connect you to each of them! Thank you for your continued support of our market and our community!
