The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Good Day, Sunshine

Good day sunshine,
Good day sunshine,
Good day sunshine.
I need to laugh, and when the sun is out
I’ve got something I can laugh about…
(Good Day, Sunshine-The Beatles)

We have nothing but sunshine, these past days, lovely market customers!! And, it looks like another one, heading our way.

Just a reminder that the market will close, this morning! I usually close it up at 8am, but because I was having problems with the market site, yesterday, I am going to give an extra hour, this morning!

At 9am, the market will close for the week! Make sure to groove on in, and place those orders! We have lovely produce, sunflowers, EGGS, and all of the other amazing products, that you love!!

When I reopen, on Thursday eve, we will say hello to our new coffee vendor!! We bring to you, The Spotted Cow Coffeehouse, in conjunction with Hemisphere’s Coffee Roasters, to bring you local coffee choices, on the market!! Make sure to read all about The Spotted Cow, in their bio, and give them some love as you drive through town, and need that coffee fix!!

Also, check out new produce vendor, Olga, and her amazing, produce from her gardens!!

A quick note that Madison Ling is returning to school, and will be offering her products in very limited forms and quantities, but is available for special orders on her gluten free baked goods!! We’ve loved having her, all summer long, with us!!

The eggs have been an issue! We cannot keep them in stock!! But, Tyler was able to get more on, Oakview is working hard with their egg vendors to bring more in, and hopefully, we will continue to keep the quantities up for you!! JC Growers have older girls, now, who just are not laying. Jim is on a vacation leave with Rocky Ridge, and we just really miss the over production of eggs, but we are working on it!!

Ok…go, order, have a great day…see you at 9am!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
