The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Whatever happened
To Tuesday and so slow
Going down the old mine
With a transistor radio
Standing in the sunlight laughing
Hiding behind a rainbow’s wall
Slipping and sliding
All along the water fall, with you
My brown eyed girl…
(Brown Eyed Girl-Van Morrison)

The day is bright, the sun is shining, the breeze is warm, and all is just amazing on this beautiful Tuesday.

For some reason, in my musical tastes, Neil Young always ushers in the fall season, while Van Morrison always ushers in the upcoming summer months, for me.

So, here I am, coffee in hand, the day already planned, and Van Morrison singing to me from my Alexa…it’s on!!

On this lovely morning, why not take a few moments to think about how our market can help you in your local quest for good food, from trusted vendors, who can help you make that transition to buying/supporting/and encouraging local eating, local buying, and local living?

The market is so easy to use, and we have so many amazing products. We are also very seasonal, so right now is the time to take advantage of Harrigan’s Harvest Asparagus!! She also has very limited quantities of rhubarb!!

We’ve got it all…and we are just waiting for you, to get in tune with us, as we stand in the sunlight, waiting to make your local life, full of local products…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
