The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Tuesday Mania!

Your market managers have been crazy busy, this past weekend, with all things Hippie and the Farmer, getting ready to open for the season, busy with the strawberry UPick, busy with our individual businesses, and busy getting the gardens, greenhouse, and construction all accomplished, for our opening day, June 23, the first Saturday On The Farm, of the season!!

Soooo…here it is, Tuesday, and this is my reminder that the market will close, for the week, tomorrow morning…get your orders in!

Yes…we know that there is no lettuce…but our lettuce is coming on, strong, and will be added to the market, in the coming weeks! Along with our organic spinach, and chard!!

Yes…the asparagus is gone…Beth’s season has ended…

Yes…if you want strawberries, don’t wait…the season is short, but sweet!

Yes…not a lot of produce, yet…but, since we run the market, locally, according to the seasons, you get the best, of what comes into play, with each growth season. And now we are in the upswing of the growing season, and our producers will be adding produce, as it comes on…

Thank you for being amazing market customers!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
