The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Winter

And it’s sure been a cold, cold winter…
(Winter-The Rolling Stones)

I always feel that this is a under appreciated old Stones song, from one of my favorite of their albums, Goats Head Soup…

I’ve been in an old Stones kind of way, lately…their bluesy, early years.

Maybe it’s this winter that is driving me to be under a musical blues kind of way. But, whatever the reason, this market is also making me dance, and sing, and getting groovy, each week!

In the coming week, the market may be our only spot of sunshine…our winter is promising to take us on a bluesy path, soon.

Let’s not think about the weather, or the dreariness of it all…let’s think about making it all easier, tastier, more nutrition packed, more flavor packed, more fueled by market love…

Go ahead, make your lists, check the market listings, and place those orders. One less thing to think about, if you let us be the sunshine in your life!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
