The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!
Raspberries!!

Love Grows

Each week, I feel the love in this little local market. From customers, from vendors, from the YMCA…it’s all a huge circle of love radiating right from this market. It takes a lot to see continued growth, and at times, you wonder if the whole plant is just going to wither and give up, but then a new wave happens, a new growth spurt, and new blossom, and things continue on with the growing plan…
Our market has periods of huge growth, we have periods of stagnant growth, we have periods of steady as she goes growth…but one thing is constant…we never wither or give up!
This week, we welcome a new gluten free baker to the mix!! She is our youngest vendor, and I hope to publish her bio, soon!! Her name is Madison, and we are excited to welcome her to this growth spurt!!
We also are seeing more and more seasonal items pop in for a visit!! Please remember to take advantage, now, and order all that you can!! Since it’s all seasonal, it won’t be around forever!!

Why? Well, your market managers, and vendors have decided that why cut the fun off at 10pm on Tuesdays? We are now extending the market until Wednesday mornings, at 8am!!
We hope this will help the people who get so sad when they forget to order onTuesday evenings!
So, our new market hours are opening on Thursday evenings, closing on Wednesday mornings!
So, now that we have given you even more ease of ordering local, show us some love all the way into the morning!
