The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

I’ve had all of my Beatles vinyl out, lately, playing them on my little turntable, listening, taking the love that they put out, admiring the peace messages…
This is from their White album, of which I picked mine up, way back in the early 80s, in an obscure little dingy, barely lit basement record shop, in downtown Lexington, right beside a little thrift shop that clothed me, during college days, and supplied me with the most exquisite 50s style prom dresses that I would gather up, and made a community trunk for all of my sorority sisters, for each of us to pick from and share, for the different formals we attended.
Spinning this album always brings me back to those days, and how I was always the dress girl of cool vintage finds.
Not much has changed, and the best part? All of those sorority sisters are still a HUGE part of my life. After all these years. When bonds are strong, and built on love, they will remain.
This market is like that, to me…the bonds, the ties, the pride, the love. I hope that it brings the same, to you, each and every week.
And, I hope that you take each of these little snippets of songs, and piece together your own treasure trunk of memories…
