The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

You've Got A Friend

Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you’ve got to do is call
And I’ll be there…
(James Taylor)

Song Implant from customer: Susan Schuster

Last week, at market pick up, Susan pulled up, as usual, smiling, as always, but admitting to having a bit of a time, on her drive into the market. She told me that this song came to mind, because of how she had been feeling on the drive.

And, what better song to fall back on when we all have those little melt downs, those cloudy days, those sad tears that sometimes need to fall?

James Taylor is one of my favorites, and I’ve been humming this song, ever since Susan’s market pick up.

I hope that this market is that friend, to you, for whatever you need, whenever you need it. I hope that we have helped to ease things for all of you, ever since March.

I feel like each week, we all, collectively, as a little united market front, are able to absorb and pass through yet another week of information overload, fear, unrest, and need for comfort.

Today is Tuesday, market customers, and we close for the week, this evening, at 8pm.

Let us be the friend, who gets you through another week…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
