The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Beautiful

You’ve got to get up every morning
With a smile in your face
And show the world all the love in your heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You’re gonna find, yes you will
That you’re beautiful, as you feel
Waiting at the station with a workday wind a-blowing
I’ve got nothing to do but watch the passers-by
Mirrored in their faces I see frustration growing
And they don’t see it showing, why do I?
You’ve got to get up every morning
With a smile in your face
And show the world all the love in your heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You’re gonna find, yes you will
That you’re beautiful as you feel
I have often asked myself the reason for sadness
In a world where tears are just a lullaby
If there’s any answer maybe love can end the madness
Maybe not, but we can only try

You’ve got to get up every morning
With a smile on your face
And show the world all the love in your heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You’re gonna find, yes you will
That you’re beautiful as you feel…
(Carole King)

This song implant comes to us from weekly customer, Dawn Butcher…she super embodies this song, with her lovely smile, each week, as she waits for us to fill her order, and load her car.

This song also comes from one of my very favorite albums, well worn, from hours of playing. Tapestry will never not be a monumental album to me. And, I had the great pleasure of seeing Carole and James Taylor in concert, years ago, and felt Carole’s amazing energy, and hoped to always exude that same energy, into the world.

The history of this song, and how she came to write it, is also interesting. She did not set out to actually write this song, but instead it started to come to her, as she watched the people surrounding her, one day, on the subway.

But, wow, what a message…and also a but like this market. We never have a clear cut plan, but instead, just go with what feels right for you, the customers, and our lovely vendors…we just want it all to be beautiful for your lovely souls….

The market is open, and as every week, there are new items to explore…go, order. Sundays are the perfect day to reflect on what your favorite items have been, plan ahead for the week, using the market as your guide, and then to order, and sit back, and just be beautiful…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
