The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

I Want Candy

I know a girl who’s soft and sweet
She’s so fine, she can’t be beat
Got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire

I want candy, I want candy…
(The Strangeloves…but, for me, my favorite version…the 1982 version from Bow Wow Wow)

Happy Friday, lovely little local market of love customers!!

First up…I picked today’s song to welcome our newest vendor, and a great friend of mine!

Candi’s Corn has joined up for the fall/winter season with her amazing popped caramel corn. She is well known in the concessions world for this, and she and I felt that it would be a great addition for the upcoming seasons.

She is working on a bio that I can put in a blog, to introduce herself, and her history, and her family history in the concessions world.

She is working on her listings, and will be ready for ordering, soon!

Also, your market manager has been on a memory lane trip with 80s club music, and this used to be one of my favorites to jump and dance to. Ahhhh, the days we could all cram into tiny clubs and dance the night away…

The market is ready for ordering!

Take note that any produce you see listed, needs to be ordered, now, as it is fading off, little by little…

But, have no fear. We are a year round market for all of your other needs, and we do have the luxury of all year lettuces/basil from Old Souls!

Have a lovely day…and, thank you for always being such lovely customers!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
