The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

My Favorite Things

I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad…
(Julie Andrews)

I have decided to dedicate a few blog entries titled, My Favorite Things.

I think this will be a fun installment, that along with favorite songs, you can send me a little blurb, via email, with some of your favorite products from the market, and why…The vendors/producers/growers work so very hard, each and every week, and I know that they would all be delighted to read little blurbs about their wares.

So, I am kicking it off, today, with one product that has become very essential to me, and that is a product from ChrisMis Farms, and it’s their Jewelweed Salve. In the little silver tin. With a lid that just comes off, easily, unlike my once favorite Smith’s Rosebud Salve that you practically had to have a hammer to get the top off…but, I digress.

This little tin of loveliness goes with me, everywhere. It’s cute, and stylish, and fits in all of my little handbags, clutches, even pockets of my jackets. It is the best texture, and when you rub it on, there is no gummy/greasy texture.

It is billed as being great for summer itches, but it’s great for so much of my life. It’s the BEST lipgloss. A bit of shimmer with a whole lot of moisture packed surprise. I love it under my eyes, before I fall asleep at night. The fine lines are looking so less so. My hands take a beating, in and out of the commercial kitchen/cleaning pans/baking, etc…and when I need more than lotion on my hands, I rub this in, and like magic…dry skin be gone!

It’s become the thing that I rub into my hands, the minute I get in my car, after being out in a public place. I first remove my face mask, and I then use hand sanitizer. Both of which dry out my hands, and my face mask has started to create little dry patches under my eyes. So, a little bit of this, and all dryness is gone.

It would be the perfect stocking stuffer for all of the people in your life…

And, so it begins…These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
