The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

My Favorite Things-Part 3

Tonight’s entry comes from one of our longest loyal market customers, Laurie…

And, these are some of her favorite things! Thank you, Laurie Cuddington!

Okay, here goes :-)
I have been a customer since January 2014! One of my longtime favorite items that I can’t do without is ELM Tree Essentials Soap. Some of my favorites are the Peppermint, Lemongrass, and Thieves Blend varieties. Another favorite product each year is Harrigan’s asparagus. I try hard to take advantage of that short season! In addition, I love JC Growers garlic in several forms, and my newest favorite item is the 8-pack of 1/3-pound beef burger patties from Oakview. We have fallen in love with smoking those. <3
Thanks for all the work and love that go into the market!
Laurie :-)
