The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Happy Halloween!

When I look out my window
Many sights to see
And when I look in my window
So many different people to be
That is strange
So strange

You’ve got to pick up every stitch
You’ve got to pick up every stitch
You’ve got to pick up every stitch
Mmm-hmm, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch, yeah
Must be the season of the witch

When I look over my shoulder
What do you think I see?
Some other cat lookin’ over
His shoulder at me
And he’s strange
Sure is strange

You’ve got to pick up every stitch
You’ve got to pick up every stitch, yeah
Beatnicks are out to make it rich
Oh no, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch, yeah
Must be the season of the witch

You’ve got to pick up every stitch
The rabbits runnin’ in the ditch
Beatnicks out to make it rich
Oh no, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch
Where’d I go

When I look out my window
What do you think I see
And when I look in my window
So many different people to be
It’s strange
Sure is strange

You’ve got to pick up every stitch
You’ve got to pick up every stitch
The rabbits runnin’ in the ditch
Oh no, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch, yeah
Must be the season of the witch
Where’d I go
Where’d I go…
(Season Of The Witch-Donovan)

Time to get groovy, little local market of love customers! It’s Halloween, it’s going to be a full moon, and it’s going to be a Blue Moon….must be the season…

I love Halloween! I have nothing but super great memories, every year of my life, about Halloween fun.

Growing up in the West End, Halloween was a magical time. Costumes, in the 70s were elaborate, most of them homemade, and sometimes you even got to have two costumes. One for wearing to school, and one to trick or trick!

My mother would spend many hours on my costumes. And, the West End was just set up for the perfect trick or treat experience. The fall night air, the crisp leaves, all parents and kids taking to the streets, while one parent stayed behind to hand out mounds of candy. The houses were all decorated, and waiting for the droves of us all parading up and down the drives.

Halloween continued with me during college, where the fun turned into more of a shenanigan event, and less about the candy, but man, what fun we all had. There were also many road trips from where I went to college, to meet up with all of my pals who attended the biggest Halloween party college, back then. I’ll stop there…lol…because those Halloween times were epic, and only up for discussion with those involved…lol.

I always made sure that Halloween as a HUGE event for my daughter, both in Florida, and when we moved here. Totally decorated house, Halloween parties, the same over the top costumes…

And, to this day, my house is still decked out for Halloween. Traditions are good, and they last a lifetime.

So, now that I have taken you on my Halloween memory lane journey, I know that it is going to be a crazy day and evening, but if you want to take a rest, you can always get your orders in…

I leave you, now, with this song to turn up, pick out some of the best Halloween movies for tonight, and get ready for moon gazing…

Must be the season…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
