The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Rainy Days and Mondays

Good morning, lovely market customers!!

You know the song, and how fitting for the day…but, we could use a bit of rain, believe it or not.

I hope you had a sunshine filled weekend. I know that I took the weekend to get yard work accomplished, and then planted herbs, all day, yesterday.

I do have a few announcements for this week’s market!!

*Asparagus is listed, this week, on the market, so take advantage!! Beth reports that the warmer weather really helped her out, and this round is even better than the previous, which was already super delicious!! The season is short, so stock up!!

*CrisMis Farms is on vacation, this week!!

*Airport Cafe is on vacation, this week!!

*Hippie and the Farmer will be selling tomato, and pepper plant starts, outside, at this week’s market pick up!! Black cherry tomato plants, assorted regular tomato plants, and assorted pepper plants!!

Don’t forget that the market closes for weekly orders, tomorrow morning, at 8am…get those motors running…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
