The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Never Going Back, Again...

Made me see where I’ve been…
(Fleetwood Mac)

Happy, Happy Monday!!

I’m hoping that your weekend was good to you, that you enjoyed the weather, and got recharged for the week!

I spent my time with old high school pals, on Saturday, reliving fun times, toasting each other with champagne, and astounded that those young women, 40 years ago, made it in life…lol. We all went off on separate paths to colleges, life, journeys of our own, but here we are, all these years later, bonded by who we were, when life seemed so vast and spread out, on graduation day of 1982.

I picked this song, today, because I am always so sad for people who say they will never go back, again, or didn’t have the same growing up experiences that I had. This weekend made me realize, all over again, how lucky I was, in that spectacular moment in time, with the music, the freedom, the experiences. The West End, the friends who have become family, and the tales we share. The tales and adventures, in all ages and stages of elementary/high school. Having all of these people, in my life, certainly always makes me see where I’ve been. Good, bad, happy, sad…all roads lead to home.

It was also a weekend that found the newlyweds, back in Ohio, for a quick visit, and in case you didn’t know…they come with their babe to be…yes, they are adding a baby boy to their little family, in November!

I’ve told them that he can call me, Lovey, and I am just so excited to be a part of what will shape this little babe. Hoping that he will always have loving experiences, know that all roads lead to home, and (hoping his parents let me lead him in tie-dye, musical instruments, and my music…lol)

And, then, this market…talk about all roads leading home. I always feel that this market grounds all of us, calls us back, each week, and provides you the laughs, the food, the goodness that we all need in life.

And, you know the drill…it’s time to get those weekly orders in, before tomorrow at 8am.

No matter what roads lead you, always look at where you’ve been.

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
