The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Happy Monday to You!

This post expired on May 14, 2023.

So did you get some frost? I’m still not certain if we did or not but I sure left the frost-protect on for one more night, whether we need it or not!

I am so excited for produce! Did you see the spinach and greens added this week? And don’t forget about your good friend asparagus. You met last week and wouldn’t want them to fell left out, right?

I just have to point out one more thing before heading out. If you have not seen the “flight of the season” syrups from Valley View Woodlands, you simply must go to “maple syrup and products” as they captured the syrup as the season evolved. It is amazing and would be an awesome event for sampling. Did you know how color changes through the season? I had no idea this did this. So cool!

Anyway, enjoy your evening and please remember the market is only open until 8 pm tomorrow night. Find us at
