The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

It's Monday...and it looks like more snow?

This post expired on February 03, 2024.

I know I sound like a broken record but seriously, more snow? I am hopeful that the shoots of green grass, spring robins, and the smell of the thaw are just around the corner. This week will merely be a small bump on the road of winter, let’s hope!

I write to remind you that it is Monday and the market closes tomorrow night at 8 pm. Be sure to get your orders in before then. Have you seen all the great seafood items from Freshwater Farms? Awesome! I am excited!

Another huge thank you to Charlene and Joe for the great Touchdown taste-fest they did for us! Samples are always a lot of work and expense for them to do for us but boy is it a great way to taste exactly what you are buying! Thanks for everything Swisher Hill Herbs! They were enjoyed by all!

Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine as it appears a change is a’coming! Remember…8 pm tomorrow!
