The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Yes! The magical summer weekend is staring us in the face. The weekend that officially tells us to start the summer celebration of fun!! Memorial Day weekend is almost here!!
I have been frantically watching the weather forecast because I am packing up and heading to my favorite music festival! The days look bright, sunny, perfect temperatures…get ready to soak up the sun!!

We have Oakview’s products to make your grilling extra special!!! You may need buns for all of your grilling so make sure to check out both traditional buns and artisan buns! The holiday weekend finds people planting their herbs and live plants…we’ve got that covered from Swisher Hill Herbs! Spring garlic, spices, asparagus??? Super sweet pies and cookies for sharing at a cookout? Dairy products, flour, and eggs for any holiday baking? Honey, maple syrups, molasses for baking or drizzling on fruit desserts…Whole chickens for more grilling fun…we just have so much to help make your plans and celebrations extra special!!!
