The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Nobody Knows How To Get Back Home

Nobody knows how to say goodbye
It seems so easy ’til you try
Then the moments passed you by
Nobody knows how to say goodbye

Nobody knows how to get back home And we set out so long ago Searched the heavens and the Earth below Nobody knows how to get back home

Through the darkness to the dawn
And when I looked back you were gone
Heard your voice leading me on
Through the darkness to the dawn

Love is deep as the road is long And moves my feet to carry on It beats my heart when you are gone Love is deep as the road is long Nobody knows how the story ends Live the day, do what you can This is only where it begins Nobody knows how the story ends Nobody knows how the story ends…

(Nobody Knows How To Get Back Home-The Lumineers)

So, it’s that time of year…we are just about ready to cross the threshold to autumn days, soft glow evenings.

Autumn always takes me back to my childhood in the West End, my old house, my grandparents house, my old friends, the comfort of it all, the beauty, the simplicity.

I try to create the feeling of home, of love, of comfort, of beauty through this market. We want each customer to feel like they are coming home, and leaving with love, when they order from our market. I want the vendors to feel like family. I want the ebb and flow of goodness, of comfort.

In these days, we see the fleeting summer produce, we see the entrance of what autumn’s bounty has to bring us. We see the sun setting in a different way, in different hues, bringing us all back to the kitchen, to the season as we begin a different kind of cooking…

Comfort, simplicity in the beauty of local items, local food, seasonal goodness.

Meats, breads, spices, herbs, garlic, late berries, late season produce, eggs, dry mixes, baked goods, essential oils, candles, soaps, maple syrup, jams, jellies…

Nobody knows how to get back home
Nobody knows how the story ends
Live the day, do what you can
This is only where it begins

Let our market begin to take you home…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes,
Cosmic Pam
