The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Washing Dishes

Singing from the garden
Where everything reaches for the sun…
(Washing Dishes-Jack Johnson)

I love listening to tunes from Jack Johnson in the early morning hours, as I am waiting on coffee, while sipping lemon water. I love putting Jack Johnson tunes on while I am making dinner, and I love putting his music on when I am entertaining, or having girls over for wine and snacks. His music is the perfect backdrop for any part of the day, any occasion.

This particular song has the verse that I used, today, because, well, it is the season where all growing, all gardens, are beginning to produce, all reaching for the sun.

On the market, this week, we have added organically grown lettuces. We have berries back from Champaign Berry Farms. The seasonal items that make the market shine even more, during the growing months. But, don’t forget…we don’t have the delicacy of the raspberries, for long. Just like the strawberries, and the asparagus, they will go fast, because they are seasonal gems of beauty…

Take a moment to indulge in the seasonal bounties, and to add from our vast selections of market items, that we boast, year round…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
