The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Go Green!
Well, we should always be going green, but this blog post is just to say go green with lettuces and microgreens, this week!!
Old Souls will be back with a delivery, this week, now that their delivery truck is back on the road!!
So…order your lettuces, basil, arugula!!
And…another great green idea from the market are the microgreens, now offered from our newest vendors….The Next Fresh Thing!!
Their microgreens come in neatly packaged containers, stay crisp, and amazing, and the taste is outstanding!! I love that they also give you the health benefits associated with each variety of microgreen on their listings.
I love to put them on salads, pasta dishes, meats, or, I also love to just leave in their container, and add nuts, berries, cheeses, and a bit of balsamic for a mini microgreen crunchy salad!

Crazy Train
Hello, and welcome back to the little local online market!!
This evening was the first market pick up of the year, and I think crazy train sums it all up!!
We had high winds, sheets of rain, a washed out greenhouse that washed away customer names, making it a guessing game of sorts, no lettuce, and your manager who just blew in from vacation just in time to jump on the crazy train with the rest of you.
So….fingers crossed for a more relaxed pick up, next week!

Hello, how are you? Did you have a lovely holiday break? Did you miss us? Are you ready to start 2023 with a real good time?
Well, here we are!! Back, and ready to get another market year ready to rock and roll!! Nothing but good times, good food, good fun, good vibes!!
Our vendors are also back from their holiday breaks, and we will be adding a few more, as the weeks progress!
So, just to celebrate being back, I am opening the market up, this morning, instead of the evening to give you an extra chance at all of the goodness!
Quick FYI…I am jumping on a plane, Sunday, for FLA, to see the little grand babe for a few days, so my products are in vacation mode, but I will be back in action, for the following market!!

Important Info. For Tomorrow's Market!
Happy Wednesday evening, lovely market customers!
Just a word about tomorrow night’s market pick up, if you placed an order for this week!!
We have been watching the weather, and it’s not looking good for the usual market pick up time!!
In an effort to get your orders into your cars, you back on the road safely, vendors off the roads, and your market managers, and staff, out of potential hazards with the weather, we are going to have market pick ups happening, all day, beginning at noon!!
Your orders will be ready, and I will just need you to call me, 937-926-4833, once you arrive in front of the greenhouse. I will bring your orders out to you. There is no need to exit your car.
If you can make it, starting at noon, that will be great! Once the evening hits, and if we begin to get icy, like predicted, the shop will close, and I am headed home!!
We are also aiming for no Friday pick ups, this week, just in case Friday morning is bad.
