The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Days Like This

Oh, my mama told me, “There’ll be days like this”…(Van Morrison-Days Like This)

You know how you groove along, everything perfectly planned, executed, accomplished, organized? Well, you know when you THINK it’s all going to play out like that and then all you get is a string of a comedy of errors? One more thing gone wrong? And, it becomes so comical that you can’t even get flustered or upset or irritated? When all you can do is just laugh and go with it? When you are thankful that as things keep unfolding, you have an amazing sense of humor, can operate under pressure and then adopt the attitude that it is what it is?

Well, that would be our market, tonight..lol. It was one mishap after another from the time I walked through the door of the YMCA right on up until I walked out of the door. Nothing earth shattering and nothing was ruined but just incident after incident. Luckily, I run the market with the help of my two assistants and fortunately, we were able to laugh, all night, and keep the pace.

Luckily, this market has the best customers in the world who just went with the flow, waited around and chatted. Shared stories, gave compliments, and made the whole scene that much lighter.

We have a wonderful staff and leadership at the YMCA who, yep, you guessed…have a great sense of humor, too. It was a night that all you could do was smile, laugh, and show everyone a great deal of love with a great dose of smiles.

So, as I open this market, I also put this day to rest. Thank you for one of our best market in sales, this past week! Thank you for your continued support in local love. Thank you for all of the kind compliments on this blog, my sense of humor, the Market Love playlist contest, and your overall satisfaction for what we bring to you, each week!

Cosmic Pam
