The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Let The Good Times Roll

Let the good times roll…
Let them knock you around…
Let the good times roll…
Let them make you a clown..
(The Cars – Good Times Roll)

This song is just the best theme to kick off this week!! We are coming off of an AMAZING State Of The Plate, this market has received HIGH compliments, projected business, and my phone has not quit ringing, all day, from yesterday!! The buzz is all around, you all ROCKED the barn, you all were AMAZING in whatever capacity you made happen, and as your market manager, you made my soul sing!!! Vendors and customers alike…we truly did just let the Good Times Roll!!

Also…a HUGE round of love to the speakers…talk about inspiration just making you want to go out and start the good times!!!! I became sort of Cosmically blinded…I hope I made you all proud as I spoke…I totally blanked it all out as I left the stage!

This song just signifies, well, a good time:) I was a girl of the 70s/80s…I still get excited at the opening beats of this song. It meant a good night was about to happen, a great party, a great explosion of excitement!

I talk a lot about the place I grew up, the tight bonds, the fact that kids pretty much had a sense of freedom. As we all came of driving age, the cool cars all came into play. The guys were all buying their first cars. The cars were the classics. The muscle cars. The garages and yards all became showcases for these cars. And, let’s face it, as a girl of the 70s, it didn’t hurt your street cred to be grabbing a ride in these cooler than cool cars.

We used to do two things as a rite of passage once driving age hit. We either cruised up and down our town’s Main Street or we cruised around and around our local parks.

It didn’t really matter which car you decided to cruise in, that day or evening. It just needed to be cool, have a cool dude at the wheel, and it had to show off your flowing hair in the open windows.

Being the girl who always had the guy pals, I pretty much got first dibs on which car I would cruise around in for the evening. What memories…everyone hanging out of windows, hanging at the park, playing Frisbee, stereo blasted tunes, and some sort of party action. (Again, the 70s, we were free to be, we had our fun).

This song just brings back all of those memories. The carefree nights, this song blasting, all of the headlights of the cars, the anticipation that anything could happen on that given night.

Much like how I am feeling about this little local market of love!! We are on the brink. We are poised to be part of the local explosion that is taking place. We are on the edge of revving this place up another notch or two. Get the motors running because we are cruising in the fast lane!

Be part of the good times, be part of this local market, and be part of that next explosion!!

Let The Good Times Roll…you won’t be sorry!

This is Monday evening, it’s been a chaotic weekend, but now it’s time to settle down, just for a second, and make those orders!! As soon as you are finished, your are free to motor!

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam
