The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Mama Said...

…there’d be days like this…

Hello, lovely little market of love customers!!

Today was definitely one of those days where one mishap and was met with another mishap, an oven burn was met with another oven burn. Burned bread was met with, hey, another burned bread.

Each step I tried to take was met with nothing but irritation…

And then I arrived to the market to get it up and running. Late, I might add, because, well, I was dealing with burned fingers and burned bread!! But, then I regrouped, met up with my assistant managers, the customers, the staff of the YMCA, and at once, the day was suddenly a big love fest…the day was not so bad, the laughter and friendship was overpowering, and at once, I was back to the day…

Let this market turn your day around…let us supply you with the best of the best in local, while we shower you with love…

I open the market, tonight, for the week, again!!

We hope to see you all take advantage of the local goodness that we have to offer…

Mama said there’d be days like this…but you can turn it all around, make it easy on yourself, and know that you are doing it all, locally…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
