The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Because, well, first, these warmer temps. seriously do feel like a heatwave! Second, who doesn’t remember the Bradys when they were a singing, pop star group??
Anyway, as you begin your weekend, don’t forget to throw your little local market of love some orders!!
And…Laura Miller of ELM Tree Essentials chatted with me, yesterday, and is hoping to have her line of oils on the market, this weekend!! She will start with a selection of favorite oils, offered both in rollerball options and regular bottle versions!! We love her soaps, and now we will have her oils!!
Also…one announcement…Bev Littler of Littler Farms has now needed to leave our market. She has been so busy with family obligations, and we thank her for your years with this market!
I know…everyone has been missing freshly baked pies…
But, guess what? We have pies coming on as we network our local market with local icon…The Airport Café!! That’s right…Doug Hall, owner of The Airport Café will begin offering their amazing, locally made pies, right here!! He is in the process of getting his listings on!!
Let’s give a huge sunshine greeting to both Laura, and her oils, and Doug/Airport Café for their pies!!
