The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

So, your market manager is home for the evening, enjoying a glass of cabernet, and listening to the Grateful Dead…because, the hippie in me is just a little bummed out that my beloved Dead-esque music festival, in May, is now cancelled. And, as I get a recharge from the day, this song just seemed to have the perfect lyrics to open with…

I have to tell you…I have nothing but HUGE, HUGE shout outs to customers, vendors, and our team, who made this HUGE market, such a smashing success!!
The winds were strong, the air was brisk, and the lines were constant, but it was such an enjoyable market, such an honor to serve each of you, and such a feeling of awe to have such great vendors with great product!!
We open, again, for ordering, this week!! We bring you all the best of the local scene, we bring it to your car, you are not fighting the big box stores, you do not have to come in contact with the general public, AND…you get great food, grown and produced right here, in our lovely community!!
I love you more than words can say…
And, I just received word of yet another honor, but, I’ll surprise you with that, later…
