The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Morning Has Broken

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning…
(Cat Stevens)

Good morning, and happy sunshine day!!

What a lovely song to greet such a lovely day, outside. I always associate this song, and my other songs of his, and Simon and Garfunkel, with my growing up, and having a student teacher, one spring, in school. She taught our music class, and she got rid of all of the boring songs we always had to sing, and introduced us to a whole new world of music. This song was one that we got to sing at our spring musical, full of excitement. She also arranged for us to all take a field trip, off school hours, to see the Beach Boys in concert. She wore super cool, hippie/mod clothes, and I thought she was everything.

I guess she was one of my first influencers in my love of music.

Anyway…all this just to greet you, on this Saturday, remind you that the market is open, ready for your orders, and that we appreciate you and your support, each and every week.

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
