The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Feelin' Groovy

Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy

Hello lamppost, what’cha knowing
I’ve come to watch your flowers growin’
Ain’t you got no rhymes for me?
Doo-ait-n-doo-doo, feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy

I got no deeds to do, no promises to keep
I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you, all is groovy…
(59th Street Bridge Song-Simon and Garfunkel)
Song implant: Weekly customer Kathleen

I’ve used this song, before, many times, and when Kathleen gave me her song choice, I just smiled…

I feel like no other song makes me happy, trippy, or skippy, as this song.

And, this is how I feel about this week’s market! Another great market, a whole lot of customers, more new customers, and returning customers from over the years.

Tomorrow, pick up is between 4pm-6pm, with no time slots assigned!

If you are a new customer, you may call me, today, with card payment information, if you would like to be paid ahead, and then we can load you up, as you come through the car line!

OR…you can have a check made out to Oakview Farm Meats, or exact change, in a ziplock bag, with your name on the bag!

I do have to insert a note of seriousness…if you ordered, you are responsible for pick up that order. When the market closes, reports are done, checks are written to vendors, and we expect the money to be coming in with order pick up. If you don’t pick up, and ignore your payment responsibility, it costs the market money because we cannot recoup the loss that has been incurred. Last week was another incident of this. I am always about the peace and love, man, but I am also a hard nosed business gal, and need to put a stop to this nonsense.

So…consider this my very heartfelt love note. It doesn’t happen, often, but it has been happening, too much, for me to still be smiling about it.

Now…let’s see your smiling faces, and hear your song selections, and load you up with all of your amazing local products!

Life, I love you…all is groovy…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
