The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Oh, What A Night

Oh what a night, hypnotizin’ mesmerizing me…
(Frankie Valle and the 4 Seasons)

So…this song…lol…first of all, it just made me so happy, tonight, to see all of your smiling faces, chat, laugh, exchange little quips and conversation, and send you on your merry way. Truly, Oh what a night…I love you all, so very much!!

But, as I was humming this song, as we waved goodbye to our last customer of the evening, I started thinking back to the release of this song, my, 7th grade, and seriously, in the most awkward stage of my being. Ever. Like…new braces, 70’s pre-teen hair, and super little, thin, and not a 70’s babe..lol.

This song came out, and I remember all of the parties, this song blaring, my usual guy pals all enthralled with the early developed babes, while your’s truly was busy refilling the chip bowls…lol..Ugh, good times, good memories, and now, those same boys are still my forever friends, and now they are sad that they passed over the chips girl.

Anyway, my awkward stage left, I recovered from my chips girl status, and went on to have fun, wild, and memorable times. But, character building came from those chips girl days, and sweet dance moves perfected, and early party planning skills while everyone else was making out under black lights…

This market reminds me of that really great party, really fun time, and lots of friendship building, and a real dance worthy Thursday market pick up…

Oh what a night every Thursday is…and, who knows, maybe I will pass out bags of chips, next week, to celebrate the old days of your market girl’s chips girl days…

The market is now open, we always make it a party, and I look forward to seeing you all, next Thursday…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
