The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

November Blue

My heart is dancin’,
To a November tune…
(November Blue-The Avett Brothers)

Well, here we are…the first sunshine day of a new month. November. That bridge month between the golden haze of October, and the stark white of December. The limbo month is how I think of November. The weather can go either way, this month while moods turn to the Thanksgiving month. The month of lovely fellowship. The month lets us look back, and forward, and lets us take count of all we have to be thankful for.

Can you believe that we are now in our 8th month of moving the market to the farm? After nine years at the Y, and at the onset of the pandemic, we moved the whole show, and yet gained a whole new following, a rebirth, and a growth that was unbelievable. That is one of my November thankfuls. This market, and all of you.

My hope is that as we move into these next few months with changing seasons, and the need, now more than ever, of comfort, friendship, and nourishment, you will find it all, right here, at this little local market.

It seems like the perfect day, today, to spend some time getting your orders together. The winds are howling, the time has changed, and there is a definite chill to the sunshine.

I am on my second pot of coffee, and ready to get my own orders in…

Hello, November…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
