The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!
Thursday Note!
Good morning, lovely market customers!
Just a quick reminder that if you ordered, this week, your pick up is tonight, between 4pm-6pm, or tomorrow, 10am-12pm, or if you need to come on Saturday, you may pick up between 10am-4pm! Just let me know if you need one of the alternate pick up days so that I can add that note to your order!
To the new customers, this week, you may bring the exact cash with you, in a ziplock bag, with your name, OR a check, also in a ziplock bag if it is raining! Checks are made out to Oakview Farm Meats. OR, you can pay be card, by calling me, at 937-926-4833, with card information, before the market!
A few other market notes…
*We will see the return of Kingdom Fish, when I reopen the market, this evening! It will be a few weeks before microgreens, though!
*Flourish let me know that the local flower farms that they use for the market florals are beginning to report growth, so it won’t be long before the return of flowers to the market!!
*3 Chick A Dees have returned from vacation with their yummy kettle corn!
*I believe McClain’s Munchies return from their travels, as well!
*A new little local designer is joining the market with her fun screen prints on tshirts, little bags, stickers, etc…Be Bright Designs will begin selling, after next week!
*ALSO…we will see the return of Valley View Woodlands maple syrup!!!!
