The Weblog
The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!
A Note From Valley View Woodland!
Happy Thursday evening!! And, thank you for another outstanding market!!
I am opening up the market for another week of fun!!
PLEASE keep in mind that we have one more market week before we are closed for the week of Thanksgiving!!!
And, I am including a note from Marc and Shary Stadler:
Dear Market friends and customers,
This is Marc and Shary from Valley View Woodlands. We have been taking inventory of our 2024 maple syrup production — as you probably remember, 2023 and 2024 were challenging years for our delicious product from our woods because of uncooperative weather. With the holidays approaching we would like to place our Valley View maple syrup back on the Market for you to enjoy. What we’ve put on the market is all we have until the sap starts flowing again in February.
You can find our syrup on the Market listing as Valley View Maple Syrup, in three convenient sizes. It makes a great holiday gift, as well as a staple on your dining table.
Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Marc and Shary Stadler
