The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

C'mon Get Happy!

Hello, world, here’s a song that we’re singin’,
C’mon get happy
A whole lotta lovin’ is what we’ll be bringin’,
We’ll make you happy
We had a dream we’d go trav’lin’ together
We’d spread a little lovin’ then we’d keep movin’ on
Somethin’ always happens whenever we’re together
We get a happy feelin’ when we’re singin’ a song
Trav’lin’ along there’s a song that we’re singin’,
C’mon get happy
A whole lotta lovin’ is what we’ll be bringin’,
We’ll make you happy
We’ll make you happy,
We’ll make you happy…
(C’mon Get Happy-The Partridge Family)

Go ahead…sing it out!! You know you can’t help but think back that multi-colored bus, with the groovy family, and those velvet stage outfits…I mean, all I wanted was for my family to buy a bus, and hit the road. But, alas, my family did not share my young hippie thoughts…

Anyway, on this dreary Monday of a morning, I thought we could all use a little happy to put some pep in our step! And, another way to get happy on this Monday, is to place your market orders!

Go ahead…get happy…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Coat Of Many Colors

My coat of many colours that mamma made for me
Made only rags, but I wore it so proudly
Although we had no money. oh I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colours, my mamma made for me…

A shout out to all of our mamas out there, doing what you do, and doing it all with love…

Our market is open, there are new products, added, and we hope that the weekend celebrates you, in the manner in which a hard working mama needs to be celebrated!

And, remember…a mom can be a mom in many forms, to many children/friends/fur babies/strangers…

We hope that you will take a bit of time from your busy weekend, to get your orders in…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Box Of Rain

And it’s just a box of rain
I don’t know who put it there
Believe it if you need it
Or leave it if you dare
And it’s just a box of rain
Or a ribbon for your hair
Such a long long time to be gone
And a short time to be there…
(Box Of Rain-Grateful Dead)

Hello, lovely little market of love customers…I hope that you are having a lovely evening as I open up the market for another week.

Such a rain filled day leading into a rain filled night. Your market manager’s head and heart are heavy, tonight, as I worry over a dear friend, their health, and what’s to come. This song always gets me through these heavy times, when all I can do is send out the love vibes. When nothing else is in our control.

I need to add new Cosmic Charlie items, I need to add a whole lot of new Hippie and the Farmer dinner combos…but, here I sit, deep in worry, with thoughts only of the well being of my friend.

The market is vibrant, the products are amazing, and it’s all there for you, your week, and your happiness!

Please, take advantage of our very short asparagus season. Beth’s asparagus was on my dinner table, this evening, and I always forget just how scrumptious it is!!

We will be adding honey back on in a couple of weeks!

There is the new grass fed beef from Stoll/Vernon Family Farm!!

And, we have so many weekly items, to bring the lovelight into your week.

I will be adding products, tomorrow…now, go, show the love, be the love…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Sunshine On My Shoulders

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry

Morning Reading!

Happy Monday!! I hope you all are having a bright start to the week!!

I am sharing the Stoll Farm/Vernon Family Beef story that they have written for you!

Stoll Farm/Vernon Family Beef: Our Stories
We holistically raise all-natural 100% grass-fed beef on our farms. From birth and through life, our herds are allowed to graze freely on natural grasses using intensive-grazing techniques so they thrive on the best of the grasses year round. We grow and harvest our own hay mix for round-bale feeders and rolling-bale techniques in the colder months which allow our cows to continually roam in the pasture areas. Never in feed-lots or penned. The health benefits of including grass-fed beef into your diet is Keto/Paleo friendly.
The Stoll Farm, located in Zanesfield, Ohio has been in operation since 1952 and is currently owned by Bob and Lois Stoll. Their cow-calf specialty is grass-fed Angus beef, offering a variety of cuts and packages to consumers.
The Vernon Family Beef operation, located in West Liberty, Ohio began in 1963 and is currently owned by Mark and Jeff Vernon. Their cow-calf specialty is a grass-fed mix of Hereford/Angus, offering similar cuts with a variety of packages to customers.
Our operations are sustainable utilizing good farming practices to promote the health of our herds and the environment. We are Beef Quality Assurance certified using best practices of humane husbandry, environment and management techniques which promote wholesome herd health. Our consumers can be assured and confident of the high quality of our beef with NO antibiotics, NO hormones and NO grain. Our philosophy of raising natural grass-fed beef is a family value we cherish and put into practice each day on the farm to provide healthy beef to our customers and raise our cows as God intended. We thank you for your support of our local, small Ohio farms

Eyes Of The World

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world
The heart has it’s beaches, it’s homeland and thoughts of it’s own
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings
But the heart has it’s seasons, it’s evenings and songs of it’s own…
(Eyes Of The World-Grateful Dead)

Hello, lovely little market customers!

It’s a dreary Sunday morning, but even without the sun, I can still fill the brightness of a new day, and, a new year, for your market manager.

Yesterday was my birthday, and it was a week spent doing things that I wanted to do, with friends, with old friends I have reconnected with, with family, and with my daughter, who flew in from Florida, to run in the Cap City 5K, yesterday.

I feel like, each birthday gives me more and more insight into who I am, where I am going, and what I am doing. This birthday was a bit different, because I entered into the month, conflicted, and letting a negative incident of last month, make me question me, and what I do. Like, it has not been good in the Hippie’s head.

But, like life often does, at just the right time, and from the right people, the light was thrown on what I have been grappling with, and suddenly, along with this song blaring in my car, yesterday, I began to carve the way back to me. The real me. And, what I do, how I do it, and where I am headed…

And, that it really is okay to live no particular way but your own…

So, there you are…very Eyes Of The World, on this Sunday morning…

And, in Cosmic news…I am adding new product, today, so you will not want to miss out!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

She's Back!!

Tis the season…and, no, not the Christmas holiday season…it’s even better!!

It’s the start of asparagus season, and Beth, of Harrigan’s Harvest, is back with the loveliness of her local offering!!

As you know, this season’s length depends on weather, and availability! So, you must get your orders in, each week, as if it’s going to be the last, just so you can indulge in the short lived, but much loved asparagus season!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
