The Weblog
The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!
Put A Little Love In Your Heart
DeShannon
Think of your fellow man, lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
You see, it’s getting late, oh, please don’t hesitate
Put a little love in your heart
And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place for you and me
You just wait and see…
(Jackie DeShannon)

Dancing Days
Dancing days are here again
As the summer evenings grow
I got my flower, I got my power…
(Dancing Days-Led Zeppelin)
We are dancing into a Tuesday, little local market of love customers, and you need to dance your orders, into the market, by 10pm, this evening…
We love seeing all of your smiling faces at pick up, each week, and sometimes, the days just dance away from us…
So, let this be your reminder, today, as I dance my way back to the kitchen, to dance my own baking dance…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
We Need A Favor!
Burns Bakery and Fudge was doing updates to their market site, and the customer who had ordered a gluten free key lime pie, got wiped out!
Can you please reorder the pie on the market, please?
Thank you!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
The Monday Haze
Wishin’ on a falling star
Watchin’ for the early train…
(Ventura Highway by America)
I always feel that when my alarm goes off, early, on Mondays, that I need to ease, peacefully, into those early hours. I know that deadlines need me, emails need me, phone calls are coming, I need to be out and about, but for the first couple of hours, I play easy listening tunes (hence, my song of this morning), slowly drink my coffee, and let my soul awake as the morning light unfolds…
This is also when I like to get my own market orders in for the week. I mentally know what I need, then I look at new items added, and then I take one more go round to make sure I did not miss anything.
Mondays are perfect for starting a brand new slate, getting organized, and also for putting the easiness into your week, by ordering from us…
Sending the love vibes…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Happy Mother's Day
Mama, mama, many worlds I’ve come
Since I first left home…
(Brokedown Palace-Grateful Dead)
Probably one of the most beautiful lyrics, and the song that tossed me onto that bus with the legions of Dead Heads, so many years ago.
I was a wild child, wanting the world, wanting everything on my terms. I exhausted my mother, and delighted my grandmother, but together, they were, and still are, a driving force in all that I have become…
They let me go, they let me see the world, they let me fail, they let me conquer, they let me be, because they knew that my strong will would see me through…
Here’s to the mothers and grandmothers who raise strong women…
Happy Mother’s Day, Bread Heads…and, thank you for always showing the love…
The many worlds that shaped me into becoming the Hippie Bakestress…
Have a lovely day, market motherhood…and, remember, you can also be a mother just by caring for something or someone, along with your furry loves of your lives, the pets that need your mothering love…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Down On The Corner
You don’t need a penny, just to hang around
But if you’ve got a nickel, won’t you lay your money down
Over on the corner, there’s a happy noise
People come from all around to watch the magic boy
Down on the corner
Out in the street
Willy and the Poor Boys are playin’
Bring a nickel, tap your feet…
(Creedence Clearwater Revival)
As I was making my coffee, this morning, I decided it was a good day to listen to a little CCR, as I started the day, looking at the sunshine, sipping coffee, and getting ready to head back to the kitchen to bake the morning away.
I wanted to write a bit, this morning, to thank you, all, for the love, each and every week. This morning, I looked at the orders, and you guys are doing it, again!!
We have another week of the lovely asparagus, but it is limited, so get your orders in. Obviously, this weather, is not helping Harrigan’s Harvest with her production. So, each week, we are so thankful for any that she has to give us!
Also, I wanted to give a big Thank You to Old Souls Farm for coming up with yet another great product! If you missed it, they added individual salads, making it even easier to take your salad on the go!
Enjoy your day, lovely customers, and we look forward to seeing you, once again, at the market pick up on Thursday/Friday!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Soulshine
When you can’t find the light
That got you through the cloudy days
When the stars ain’t shinin’ bright
You feel like you’ve lost you’re way
When the candlelight of home
Burns so very far away
Well, you got to let your soul shine
Just like my daddy used to say
He used to say soulshine
It’s better than sunshine
It’s better than moonshine
Damn sure better than rain
Hey, now people don’t mind
We all feel this way sometimes
You gotta let your soul shine, shine till the break of day…
(The Allman Brothers)
Your souls were all so bright, tonight, little local market of love customers!
Your manager is beyond tired, but so very heart happy at this market!
While I drift off to sleep, I am opening the market for the week!
Show us all the love!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Time Slot-Part 2
Sorry!
Two things…in my previous time slot email, I meant to say, Friday pick up, not delivery!
Also, a few of you use three names with your last names. If that’s the case, our system puts you alphabetically with the second name.
If you use, say, Jane Doe Smith, the site places you in the D category!
XOXO
