The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Thursday Pick Up!
Good morning, lovely customers!

We will be watching for you, as you pull in, and will be right out! It’s a crazy day, today, getting ready for the first farm event of the season, tomorrow evening, and everyone will be working on last minute jobs, but we will get to you, as soon as we see you, and will grab your orders!!

Monday Evening Checklist
Hello!! How are you, and how was your weekend? And, just to remind you that it’s a Monday, that does feel like a Sunday, but tomorrow is Tuesday, and that means you need to think about ordering, and the Tuesday 8am cut off for weekly ordering!!
Also, a few notes…
JC Growers added their seasonal, and amazing garlic scapes!!! Just like all of the seasonal produce, it only lasts a short time!!! And, well, garlic scapes are something of a culinary treat!!
Also, don’t miss out on their radishes!! I have some of their white icicle radishes roasting in the oven with some of Oakview’s pork chops, simmering in a ginger Dijon glaze!!
AND…this is the LAST week for the asparagus season!!! Make sure you order before it’s gone!!!

Well, here we are…ready to usher in the holiday weekend that leads us to all that is lovely!!
School is out, graduation is over, grad parties are underway, vacation planning goes into full swing, and the golden, lazy, hazy days of summer come rambling in. Officially, not until later in June. Unofficially, we are already there.
I know that your weekend will be packed with fun, or relaxation, or full of events!! But, take a little down time to get your market orders in for this seasonal amazing goodness that comes to you, each week, via…LOCAL!!

It's Late!!
Hello, good morning, so sorry!!
I apologize for the lack of posting, over the weekend, and my late market reminder, today, but I had my little family in from Florida, and well, if you follow this weblog, my little grandson, Lennon, is just everything to me, so I spent all the weekend, soaking up his cuteness!!
So, like you, I am scrambling to get my order in, as well!!
AND…JC Growers added two varieties of radishes, the asparagus is going to be short lived, and there is just SO MUCH GOODNESS ON THIS MARKET!!

Summer Breeze
Summer breeze makes me feel fine

I know that it is not yet summer, but today, when I was outside, harvesting the small batch Lettuce Be Groovy orders, there was such a nice breeze, no humidity, and a beautiful golden haze to the early part of the day. I had this song running through my head, the rest of the day.
Thank you, once again, for another lovely market of orders!! I love the love that you give to this little local market!

Also, I bought a bunch of JC Grower’s radishes, and wow!!!! The best!!! Grab some while they are in season!!
Same for the asparagus…we never know how the weather will determine it’s already short seasonal life span, so don’t miss out on Harrigan’s Harvest Asparagus!!
Hippie and the Farmer have put the Lettuce Be Groovy Lettuce on vacation mode, while it regenerates!! As soon as the plants are mature enough, again, I will add it back!! Remember, this is an experiment in small batch lettuce, and quite fun and interesting!!
