The Weblog
The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!
To The World...
To the world,
I promise temperance and insight and courage.
To crusade for justice, to seek the truth, and defend it, always.
To those whom my life may touch in slight measure, may I give graciously of what is mine.
To my friends, understanding and appreciation.
To those closer ones, love that is ever steadfast.
To my mind, growth.
To myself faith, that I may walk truly in the light of the flame.

Good morning, lovely market customers. Just a blog of love, a blog about compassion, and a huge dose of gratitude to all market customers and vendors who have all rallied, got on board with the market change in location, and for making this a record week, so far, in your confidence in giving us your orders!
You still have until Tuesday evening, at 10pm…and, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
An early morning with a quiet Sunday mermaid mug of coffee, the sky is still dark, and there is not a sound in the house.
Last night, I came home, exhausted, as I have each night, this week. I did my usual scrubbing myself down, making sure to change my clothes, and pour a glass of wine. I mentally had a dinner plan to execute, and then I just sunk into oblivion, and watched, Walk The Line, the June and Johnny movie that I always love. I also, while making dinner, streamed a live show from Dead and Co., because they are giving us a week of past shows to view, like so many other bands are doing. I was in a sense of gratitude, gratefulness, reflection. And, then I posted a love vibe to the band, but noticed someone posting the most hateful stuff to the band. The person was using such harshness, and it was taking away from the goodness of the moment. The person was berating the band for being out in public, performing, and taking a chance of getting everyone sick. Everyone was lashing out at that person because had he clearly read about the show, or was even living in this world, he would have read that it was a show from 2016. He would have known, if he were a Dead Head, that this was a loving way to spend with our lovely band, during their lovely gesture. But, he chose to make it an ugly platform where it was not needed.
The edge…it’s there. It’s there, everyday. The edge is unknown, and it’s scary, but it’s also manageable, and the edge is giving us a new kind of kindness, and new gentle, and new understanding, and a new coming together. This is how I am viewing the unfoldings of the past few weeks.
Fear, and yelling, and pointing fingers, and soap boxing, and shoving fear posts out to everyone…that just ain’t my gig, man. I mean, I’ve got my social distancing down, and my hygiene, and I have a bit of fear but I have manifested it into hopefulness, at this point.
I am in the service industry with my food businesses. So, while the future is uncertain…I cannot book anything in the next months, I have no clue how anything will look in this near future, the part of the service industry that I am allowed to carry on with, is bringing me much joy. Much purpose. Much happiness to be a part of so many who need what my businesses provide.
But, it’s not just the actual business that the people are looking for. It’s guidance. It’s understanding. They are opening their eyes to the way they eat, what they are now looking for in their food. Where their food is coming from. Why, for some many damn years, my businesses are called the food police because we are so adamant about the online market products, and the products that we bring to people. Serve to people. What is in our food, our air our surroundings…this is what people are looking at, and thankful for my words to them, whenever they come to pick up orders, or I drop a delivery, or speak with them on the phone, or communicate through our very important online farmers market.
This new gentleness is what I am seeking…and, all week, in my head, I continue to recite this pledge, this beautiful pledge, that I recited so very many times in all of my college days. My sorority pledge. I didn’t really appreciate it to it’s deepest meaning back then. During those Sunday night meetings, in a roomful of idealistic sisters, pledging to always go forth, in this world, and bring the light. But, this is when we need the light, the most. I hope that it brings light, love, and patience to anyone who is still reading, as we face another week on the edge.
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Your ever rambling market manager
Saturday Sunshine...
This is your Saturday dose of sunshine, straight from your market manager…
How’s it going? I miss you all, terribly, after our week of interruption!!
I am about to head off to bake the day away, but first I wanted to leave you with a few thoughts…
Now, more than ever, we need good food.
We need to see smiling faces, at a distance, and, we need to connect with the familiar.
We all want to make sure this whole local scene continues to thrive, showing the love, and keeping on keeping on.
And, that this market can provide all of that, along with the food, the candles, the coffees, the soaps/oils, the elderberry, the honey, the eggs, the fish, the dog treats, the breads, the meats, the sweet baked goods, the mustards, the jams, the soups, the frozen berries, the maple syrup, the greens, the lettuces, the milk, the gluten free baked goods, the cute tote bags for your market items…but along with all of that, we give you ALL the love.
Orders will still need to be in by 10pm on Tuesday evening. Pick up will still be from 4:30 until 6pm, Thursday. The only change will be the location, moving to Oakview Farm Meats, 1645 St. Rt. 54, Urbana…
Everything else is still all that you love us for…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
One More Thing!
In my blog, last night, I wrote about how on Thursday market pick up, we will now be operating it out of your co-manager’s business at Oakview Farm Meats, 1645 St Rt 54!
I will remind you, again, on market pick up day!
And, another plus? You get to see where all the Cosmic magic happens!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Let Us Be Your Light...
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we’ll see
No I won’t be afraid, no I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin’, darlin’, stand by me…
(Stand By Me-Ben E King)
Well, here we are, a Friday morning that in the past would have been any Friday morning with me writing any ole thought that came to my head about you, us, the market, our love for local…and now, here we are in new territory, but you know what? My sentiments remain the same…you, us, the market, our local love, and our determination in bringing you all that you need, or even just want.
This market is perfect for everyone, right now. You can order from your home. You are practicing your social distancing. You are not shopping with the masses in the public big box stores. We have things in stock. It’s a lovely drive out to the country, to the farm, where we are now conducting the market. If you prefer to not leave your car, we will bring your order out to you. If you want to come inside, say hello, grab a few things from the shop, we are doing extra cleaning, and taking every step to ensure that your shopping experience is a healthy one.
It’s the same market, just a different location, but now, more than ever, we need each other…
Stand by me…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Good Evening!
Hello, lovely customers!
What a confusing week, confusing times, and me, trying to make sense of what to do!
We can not operate out of the YMCA, and I didn’t want to close the market down, so this has been on my mind, trying to cobble something out!
Here it goes… for the time being, the market will open, as usual, operate on the same time frame for ordering, you will place your orders, just normally, via the market, and it will close, as usual, Tuesday evening!
The only difference is that your pick up point will be at Oakview Farms, 1645 St. Rt. 54! The same pick up time as usual!
The other difference is that all payments will be done, on site, since we do not have cards on file!
We think this will be a great option to continue the continuity on a weekly basis!
Paul gave us his thumbs up, so with that, we are live!
Thank you!!!!!!!!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Cosmic Love
Your favorite, Cosmic Charlie, will take all orders, and either deliver, or make them available for pick up, at the retail shop of Oakview Farm Meats, where all my baking takes place!
Use the market list with all of my listings, then email, message, or call me!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Another Vendor Showing The Love!
Another vendor, willing to help out the market during it’s shutdown!
Customers can visit my Burns Bakery and Fudge Facebook page and message me through it and I will be glad to deliver their products! Karen Burns
Vendors Showing The Love
Here are a few vendors who are offering a delivery/and, or pick up!
Kennedy Farms can offer delivery of pasture raised eggs. They only need to contact me via kennedyfarmsohio@icloud.com. I have the ability to process cards and offer a no contact delivery protocol. Let me know if you need any more info.

From The Stadlers:
We would welcome people to buy directly from our farm. We just finished bottling this year’s syrup and it is beautiful and tasty. I have not updated quantities on the site, but we now have everything in stock. People can call Marc directly to arrange a pickup. 937-215-0329.
Thank you.
Shary
From Oakview Farm Meats:
Mark has put together an menu of his meats, and local products! You can call or message your orders to him, take advantage of many local vendors, in one order, and if it’s over 50.00, the delivery is free.
This would also include Cosmic Charlie, and Hippie and the Farmer, along with many other products!
I will continue to update vendor love…
IMPORTANT UPDATE
I am so sorry, my lovelies…I was too fast, and too hopeful in my last Weblog.
Paul from the YMCA just called me to inform me that the governor has now shut down all rec centers, childcare, day care…so, the YMCA will now be on mandatory shut down.
Which means the market will be following the same protocol…I am so very sorry. We had a meeting of the minds via his phone call, and we just cannot run the market, take payments, or pay vendors, without the YMCA systems!!
So, until further notice, and with such a very heavy heart, we will be suspending the market, and all orders placed, will now be cancelled.
I will be updating, via this weblog, what vendors you can contact to place orders for a direct delivery/pick up with them.
I’m your girl, and I want to keep you informed…
I love you, and this market, more than words can say…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
And, She's Back...
…to the new normal…
Hello, lovely market customers! I just returned from my vacation! Happy to report that in my travels, there was nothing crazy, all good vibes, calmness, and a sense of keeping steady in the midst of making sense.
That is what I want for this market. To continue on our usual, lovely path, bringing you the best foods, products, and attitude during this new time. I know that none of us have the answers, and I am certainly not the girl to try to be the expert. I can only bring you a ray of sunshine, and this lovely market.
At this time, the YMCA is still operating, so we will plan to continue on our usual course of market pickup. IF you feel that you would rather not enter the YMCA, at pick up, we are giving you a choice, to simply call me…937-926-4833, once you arrive, at the YMCA front entrance, and we can bring your order to your car, where we can also collect payment, if you do not have a card on file with the YMCA.
Choices are good, and only you know which way you feel most comfortable with. So far, things will remain as usual.
I super appreciate the orders that have come in, thus far, and want you to continue to order up! Think about stocking your freezers, your pantries, your refrigerators, and your life…and, don’t forget to order that little things, like candles, to perk up your moods!
We are here for you…keeping the lovelight on…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
