The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!
I know some of you are just returning from the great Mechanicsburg market, but please take a few minutes to finish up your purchases! The market closes in a few minutes and you need to hurry! Good luck!
Good morning everyone!
I hope this finds you enjoying this beautiful sunny day! I’m just curious if you have placed your order this week with us yet? Don’t wait…that is often the feedback I hear. “I waited and then it was too late!” Grab your coffee or tea cup, put your feet up and take ten minutes for yourself. I will give you permission to just be. I hope it is spent browsing our market page but if not, at least you took ten minutes to relax and really enjoy the moment.
We don’t do that enough. Just be. I wish you a day just to “be”. Enjoy your day!
Thank you for another wonderful market! With Pam at the helm, you are sure to have a great time and have an accurate pick up! I’m opening it up again and hope you join us for another week of local greatness! Have fun friends!
I’ll give you a few more minutes but don’t forget the market is closing! I’ll close it in 10 minutes! Hurry!
Don't forget us...
I know there are many of you thinking about pencils and notebooks but please don’t forget that the market is open until tomorrow at 8 pm. We have such great products to offer you won’t want to miss it! Hurry, hurry and order by tomorrow night!
Good evening everyone!
Here is hoping we see each and every one of you this week as we celebrate the annual return to school! Please watch for those big yellow rolling things called buses and the kids on foot or bicycles. What a fun time of year with new shoes and excitement! Have fun as we all remember how it felt to be nervous for newness and excited to meet new and old friends! Remember the market though and please share us with a friend!
It is Tuesday! Last day!
Just a reminder to get your orders in by 8 pm tonight! It will be here before you know it!
Good day! While watching a P. Allen Smith show about Monticello, I am inspired by some fall vegetables as well as his garden! He was the original foodie. When folks came to dinner at his home, he served seasonally out of his garden, loved to share seeds and wine and was a great entertainer! His garden was full of seeds shared with him from around the world and regularly served as many as 30 people for dinner in one night!
While our homes may not be compared to Monticello, we all can be inspired by the fall vegetables that are starting to show up. Enjoy something new today and eat local for health, taste and a bit of history too! Shop the market until 8 pm tonight and find something that inspires your inner Jefferson!
Having fun yet?
I hope you are having a relaxing morning but don’t forget the market is open! Shop early for best selection!
Here we go!
So put that corn dog, French Waffle or the elephant ear down and head home long enough to shop this week. Have a wonderful time at the fair but don’t forget we are open through Tuesday night! Enjoy!
