The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:
Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

Wake Up Call!
Good morning, lovelies!!
This is your wake up call that it is Wednesday, and we close at 8am, today!!
Your market manager has been incredibly busy, this past weekend, and has put all of the breads in vacation mode because, well, I am leaving on my usual music festival weekend, tomorrow, and will not be around for market times!! In the past years, I have baked up until the exact moment that we were packing, and leaving…this year, I gave myself a break, and permission to just ease into the festival weekend…but, I will be back with all the Cosmic goodness for next week’s market!!
On the lettuce front…sadly, we said goodbye to Kevin, of Davidson Family Growers. Urbana was becoming an issue to try to deliver, and he has decided to move on. We wish him well, and we thank him for his years on the market!!
But…we will have lettuce!! Hippie and the Farmer have been growing early plants in their greenhouse, all winter, and we should have lettuce to add to the market, soon!! Also, now that we know to plan, we should be able to provide lettuce, year round, from our greenhouse!! We are all organic growers, and look forward to another great season!!
We also have our other produce vendors who should be able to bring their products, soon, and we have added a new grower for the season!!
Right now…don’t forget asparagus season!! Get it, here, before the season ends!!
And, Champaign Berry thinks it’s just a matter of time before they have their first offerings…
Ok…let’s do this…get your orders in…and, remember…it’s the holiday weekend!! Get your celebration started, here!

But, seriously…the market closes at 8am, this morning, and there truly is no sunshine if all of our merry band of followers are not all with us, on the ordering adventure…
And, just a note on the bread front for my own, Cosmic Charlie…if you need bread, order it for this week. I will be putting myself on vacation mode, for next week, as I take my annual leave to drift off to the first music festival of the season…

The day is bright, the sun is shining, the breeze is warm, and all is just amazing on this beautiful Tuesday.
For some reason, in my musical tastes, Neil Young always ushers in the fall season, while Van Morrison always ushers in the upcoming summer months, for me.
So, here I am, coffee in hand, the day already planned, and Van Morrison singing to me from my Alexa…it’s on!!

The market is so easy to use, and we have so many amazing products. We are also very seasonal, so right now is the time to take advantage of Harrigan’s Harvest Asparagus!! She also has very limited quantities of rhubarb!!

This busy week has flown by! Here we are at Wednesday morning, and the market closes at 8am, this morning!
What you don’t want to miss is the asparagus!! It’s that time of year!! We welcome Beth back to the market but remember, the season is fleeting for asparagus, so you need to take advantage!

Sorry for the late opening of the market this week. This is Mark ,your assistant manager. Your manager,The Hippie has been busy preparing for an event tomorrow. The Farmer has been busy too,but forgot to open the market for her. Get your orders in so the Farmer doesn’t get in trouble for a smaller market this week.
