The Weblog

The local foods movement is alive and well in Champaign County! Here are some updates on other projects while we finalize our virtual market:

Local Producers Map:
Our local producers map is ready for publication and you will soon be able to find it on gochampaign.com. Copies will be distributed around the community, in the local telephone book, and other “hangouts”. The guide lists the location and contact information for nearly 50 local producers within our county. The map was a project of the Local Food Council and printed with the help of some local sponsors including the Monument Square District, Champaign Bank, the Community Improvement Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Farm Bureau and others. It is a great start to finding a local source for Champaign County’s finest!

"Lettuce Celebrate"

Hi, there…Hello…Good Evening…

I just wrapped up another great market pick up, and now, I am back to open up the market for another week of ordering…

And, with this new week, we welcome, Davidson Family Growers with their amazing varieties of lettuce!!

I just wanted point out that Kevin provides heads of lettuce! In bags! So, you are getting fresh, crisp, unprocessed lettuce. He has many varieties, and he also offers several mixed heads, that come three heads to a bag!

For you lettuce lovers, you may want to up your quantity, since it will be different than the processed lettuces in the plastic containers, you are used to!

I’m so excited to welcome Kevin back to the market family!!

Now…show him ALL the love, and lettuce celebrate!!!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Tuesday Reminder!

Good morning!

It’s Tuesday, and the market closes at 8am, for weekly orders!!

You still have time to groove those last minute orders!

Hello, Old Friend...

As I am strolling down the garden path
I saw a flower glowing in the dark
It looked so pretty and it was unique
I had to bend down just to have a peek

Hello old friend…
(Eric Clapton)

So, here we are, Monday evening, the eve before your weekly orders are all due, in the morning, at 8am.

Hello, there…hello, to all of you. Hello, to so many, many returning customers that seem to be returning after a year or more hiatus. Hello, to the weekly loyals.

And…hello to a new vendor who is starting this week! Brown Paper Bakery, LLC. A mother/son baking team that applied to the market, was on the market waiting list, and then we had to say goodbye to McClain’s Munchies, and Brown Paper Bakery was the next one on the waiting list! Give them a look…I hear amazing things about their English Toffee!!

Also, it’s Hello, Again, to another vendor, who will start on Thursday, when I reopen the market. He is new to a great many of you, but he’s one of the OGs that used to be part of the market, way back in the older market times. And, he came up through the ranks with many of your other favorite vendors.

BUT…the most exciting part of his return is….drumroll….he brings his lettuces back to us!!!!

Yes, on Thursday, we say hello to Kevin, of Davidson Family Growers!!! His lettuces are always fresh, full of taste, his farm is in New Carlisle, he is well known in the Clark County markets and restaurants for his lettuces, and I was so happy that he called me, this morning, to let me know that he could return to this market!!

So, on Thursday, get ready for lettuce, again!!!

But, for now…get your weekly orders in!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

That Thursday Feeling!

That feeling of excitement as I reopen the market for another week of ordering fun!

We are in a new month, moving right along to spring, enjoying amazing weather, and thinking all the sunshine thoughts!

Let the market be a part of that weekly dose of sunshine…let us help you with your week!

The market is open, and ready!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Let Your Love Flow...

There’s a reason for the sunshine in the sky
And there’s a reason why I’m feeling so high
Must be the season
When that love light shines all around us…
(The Bellamy Brothers)

So, your market manager is feeling extra love coming into this Monday morning, because her little trio from Florida were all here, this past weekend, with little babe Lennon, in tow!! My family was able to pull off the best surprise, on Friday evening, by having them here, and inviting all of the great grandparents, over for dinner, and letting them meet Lennon, for the first time!! Best surprise ever!!

So, yes…let the love flow…and, let your market orders grow!!

Did you see that much beef and bison has been added back to the market? And, so many other amazing items!!!

Let this market be your love light…that little love feeling you get when you shop local. For local products. At our local market. From your local vendors.

You have until tomorrow morning, at 8am…I just got my order in! Let’s all follow!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Love Vibes!

Hoping that you all are ready for another week of market fun, ordering, and all the local goodness!

We are all back, and ready to give you all the love!!

I am opening the market, and look forward to your orders!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Market Update!

Just a quick update on the status of this week’s lettuce orders, and the lettuce, going forward.

Sadly, there will now be no lettuce, this week for the market orders. Even more sad, Old Souls has informed me that it’s not only this week, but they have determined that even staking out a small space in their production, for our market, is taking too much away from their client in the Cleveland area.

So, I come to you with apologies…I had high hopes that this would continue to work out, but it looks like a no go.

If you have been a lettuce driven customer over these years, I hope that you will continue to be a weekly customer of our other fine items.

And, while I am saddened, I am thankful for the long years we had with Old Souls, and realize that we were very lucky to have had their products, year round, for as long as we did.

We now return to a seasonal lettuce market. If you are a grower/producer, I am looking to add lettuce and vegetables for the upcoming season. You can apply under the Growers Tab, on this site!

Thank you, to all of you, for being as excited as I was to have hoped to keep Old Souls in our family…

I already deducted all lettuces from your orders, this week, and you will not be charged for them.

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Tuesday Reminder!

Did you over sleep, and running around like a crazy person, who also just remembered to get her order in?

No? That’s just me, this morning?

Well, no matter…it’s nearing that time!!

Market closes in 30 minutes…don’t miss out!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Listen To Your Head...

…it’s telling you to feed it with all of the loveliness that the market has to offer, and to get those orders in, all day, today…

You don’t want sadness, tomorrow morning, at 8am, when you realize you forgot to order!!

I hope you had a lovely weekend!! I took a bit of time off, went to Columbus, stayed the night, saw a Grateful Deadish band play, twirled around, made some cool friends, and then returned, yesterday, totally renewed. Well, a bit tired, but totally renewed…lol.

Now, it’s all about getting my market orders in, just like you!!

I am on vacation mode, this week, as I work on soups for The Empty Bowls event on Thursday evening, and I am also getting ready for a big weekend, this coming weekend!!

Also, vendors who are low on product, will be back in full force in these coming weeks!! It’s a good, yet frustrating thing to be low on product, like the meats, but they are at the mercy of the processing, and have learned to be patient, while frustrated…

Ok, get on with your day, after you make a note of what to order!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
