Exterior surfaces are coated with a black sealant to preserve the wood and increase absorption of solar radiation; interior surfaces are rough and uncoated. The floor board is hinged for annual cleaning. The back board includes a top bracket for hanging the Bat House on a nail or screw, and a bottom hole for secure fastening. Approximate dimensions: 15"H x 12"W x 7"D. Best when fastened to the East or South side of a pole or building, 12-to-15 feet above ground, for morning sun and afternoon shade. Here in Ohio, Bat Houses should be put up in February or March for best results.
